back: Hue | Another Street in Ha Noi . . . |
================================= The lead photo shows an old tree growing between two buildings, along a cleanly swept street in Ha Noi, sidewalk cluttered with newly acquired motor bikes. Freshly cut flowers adorn the entrance to the right, while residents enjoy the morning. How long before cars and high-rises change this street? =================================

The water puppet theater is just one of many cultural attractions in Ha Noi.

Ha Noi is also a great city to walk, and that is just what I did. Logged many camera-snapping miles along the sidewalks and streets. Note the cleaver use of plywood for the bike wheel in the above-center snap shot. The primary place to bird watch is northwest of Old Quarter. Unfortunately, my avian friends are all in cages, as shown below.

Several markets are located in Ha Noi, but it is more fun to just walk around town, especially in Old Quarter. Every block or two appears designated for one type of goods or another: shoes; lacquer ware; embroidery; minority handicrafts; china ware; pots and pans; musical instruments. The list is endless, so you never know what surprise will be offered just around the corner.

And when it's time to eat, there is no end to the selection.
Happy travels to all of you!
